The Last Filler
You’ll Need
For Five Years.

Bellafill is the only FDA-approved dermal filler with results lasting 5 years or more. Not because it tricks your body — because it works with it. PMMA microspheres create a permanent scaffold that continuously stimulates your own collagen production.

The Science

Why Bellafill
Lasts

Standard hyaluronic acid fillers are gels that your body gradually absorbs over 12–18 months. The moment they are injected, the clock starts running. Bellafill is different at the molecular level.

Bellafill contains polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres — smooth, round particles that your body does not recognize as foreign and does not absorb. They remain in place permanently. The bovine collagen carrier gel is absorbed over 1–3 months, but during that time, the microspheres trigger your own fibroblasts to begin producing collagen around the scaffold.

The result: your body builds its own structural collagen matrix around the Bellafill microspheres. Volume and structure are maintained not by a gel, but by your own biology.

The Collagen Stimulation Mechanism

PMMA microspheres are biocompatible and non-biodegradable. When placed in the dermis, they activate a controlled foreign-body response that stimulates collagen type I and III production — the structural collagens that provide volume and firmness. This is the same collagen your body loses with age.

Immediately

Instant Volume

The bovine collagen carrier gel provides immediate volume correction at the injection site. Results are visible the same day.

Weeks 1–3

Collagen Begins

The carrier gel is gradually absorbed as the body begins encapsulating the PMMA microspheres with new collagen fibers.

Months 1–3

Your Collagen Takes Over

The carrier gel is fully absorbed. Your own collagen has replaced it — maintaining volume organically around the microsphere scaffold.

Year 1–5+

Lasting Structure

The PMMA microspheres remain in place. The collagen scaffold they stimulated continues providing structural support. Clinical studies confirm results at 5 years and beyond.

Candidacy

Is Bellafill
Right for You?

Bellafill is not for everyone — and Dr. Anna is honest about that. Because it cannot be dissolved, it requires a different level of certainty than HA fillers. Here is how she thinks about candidacy.

Ideal Bellafill Candidates
  • You have had HA fillers before and know exactly what results you want
  • You are tired of the maintenance and cost of repeating HA fillers every 12–18 months
  • You want cheek or nasolabial correction that is structural and long-lasting
  • You are 35+ with stable aesthetic goals that have not changed over time
  • You want to invest once in your face rather than repeatedly
  • You understand and accept that Bellafill is not reversible
  • You have tested negative for bovine collagen sensitivity (required skin test before treatment)
Better Served by HA Fillers
  • You are new to filler and still exploring what results you like
  • You want the option to dissolve your filler at any time
  • Your aesthetic goals have changed significantly in the past 1–2 years
  • You want to try lip filler — Bellafill is not indicated for lips
  • You are under 30 and your facial structure is still evolving
  • You are pregnant or nursing
The Math

Bellafill vs. Repeated HA Fillers

Bellafill has a higher upfront cost than a single syringe of Juvederm. Over 5 years, the comparison tells a different story.

Standard HA Filler Juvederm Voluma — Cheeks 2 syringes · Annual treatment needed
Year 1~$1,600
Year 2~$1,600
Year 3~$1,600
Year 4~$1,600
Year 5~$1,600
5-Year Total ~$8,000 $1,600 / year
vs
Bellafill Bellafill — Cheeks 2 syringes · Treated once
Year 1~$1,800
Years 2–5$0
5-Year Total ~$1,800 $360 / year — 78% less
5-Year Savings with Bellafill ~$6,200

Common Questions

Bellafill Q&A

Bellafill has the longest safety record of any FDA-approved filler — it received approval in 2006 and has been used in over 1 million treatments worldwide. The 5-year FDA approval was based on the most extensive clinical trial ever conducted for a dermal filler. As with any injectable, it should only be administered by a trained physician who understands the anatomy and appropriate placement depths.

Because Bellafill's carrier gel contains bovine (cow) collagen, a small skin test is required at least 4 weeks before treatment. A tiny amount of the collagen is injected in the forearm. If there is no reaction after 4 weeks, you are cleared for treatment. The vast majority of patients pass without issue. This is a non-negotiable safety requirement — Dr. Anna will not skip this step.

Bellafill is FDA-approved for nasolabial folds and acne scarring. Dr. Anna also uses it off-label for cheeks and jawline in appropriate candidates — areas where long-term structural support is desired and where the anatomy is suitable for a semi-permanent filler. Bellafill is not appropriate for the lips, tear troughs, or highly dynamic areas.

Dr. Anna will assess your facial anatomy, discuss your goals, and evaluate whether Bellafill or a standard HA filler better serves your situation. If Bellafill is appropriate, she will administer the required skin test and schedule your treatment for 4+ weeks later. There is no obligation and no pressure. The consultation is about making the right decision for your face.

Yes. Bellafill is commonly combined with HA fillers (for areas where reversibility is preferred, like lips and tear troughs), Botox, and energy-based treatments like Morpheus8 and Forma RF. Dr. Anna frequently uses Bellafill as the structural foundation of a Full Face Rejuvenation program, with other treatments layered on top.
